Victoria Freeman Empty
PostSubject: Victoria Freeman   Victoria Freeman I_icon_minitimeTue Dec 25, 2018 9:04 pm

Personal Info

   Name: Victoria Freeman
Nickname: Vicky/Vickie, but only to friends.
   Age: 18 years old
   Gender: Female
   Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
   Trainer Class: Ordinary Pokemon Trainer

   Appearance:
Victoria Freeman:
   Height: 5' 4"
   Weight: 120 lbs
   Hair: Brown
   Eyes: Blue
   Skin Tone: Light
   Special Characteristics: N/A

Personality: Victoria can best be described as cheerful and exuberant... at least on the outside. She seems like a polite young woman who has a fondness for travel and fast food. She is polite and cheerful, but it is only a mask that she wears. Once one gets past the exterior, her cheerful demeanor vanishes and is replaced by a deep melancholy. That is because Victoria is the last of her family.

For the past one hundred and fifty years, the Freeman family has been haunted by the "Freeman Curse." This is a nickname for the unsettling tendency of Freeman family members to die violently shortly after encountering a wailing Misdreavus. Victoria met a wailing Misdreavus the night before she set out on her journey and is concerned that her time might be near. Even though she does not believe in superstition, Victoria's research into the family history has shown that the "Freeman Curse" is something much more sinister than sheer bad luck. She cannot place a finger on it, but something else has to be at work for so many Freemans to die after seeing a single Pokemon.

Victoria is fond of her Vulpix, which was a gift to her from her late older sister Veronica, who was a Pokemon Breeder who lived and worked in Celadon City before her untimely death at the hands of wild Houndoom. The Vulpix helps Victoria fight the worst of her melancholy by giving her something to care for and something to take her mind off of the curse. It is also warm and soft to the touch.

Despite her inner melancholy, Victoria is determined to go on an adventure while she can. She likes swimming and visiting beaches. She likes traveling to new and interesting places. One of her fondest hopes is to return to Olivine City and meet Jasmine, a Gym Leader she holds in high regard because of her kind demeanor in caring for the Ampharos of Olivine Lighthouse and ironclad determination when it comes to Gym Battles. She also holds Erika in similar high esteem; both Gym Leaders are living proof that nice guys do not always finish last.

   Likes:

  • The Beach- Having grown up in Olivine City, Victoria spent a lot of time on the beach. She likes the sand and the water and likes swimming.
  • Technology- Her parents worked at Silph Co. and Victoria learned to work with technology from an early age. While she is no wunderkind, she has enough practical knowledge to make jury-rigged repairs to technological devices if she cannot procure proper replacement parts.
  • Fast Food- Victoria likes junk food, especially hamburgers and french fries. She also likes caffeine in any form.

   Dislikes:

  • Psychics- Victoria is wary of people and Pokemon that can read her mind and see her deepest thoughts.
  • Bullies- Having been bullied most of her childhood, Victoria cannot stand them. Whether they are dime-a-dozen street goons or crime syndicates like Team Rocket, Victoria detests bullies.
  • Caves- Victoria got lost in Mount Moon ten years ago on a class field trip when she was tricked into taking a wrong turn by bullying classmates. She was only saved by a Clefairy that kindly guided her out of the complex cave system and to Route 4. Ever since then Victoria does her best to avoid caves.

   Motivations:

  • Borrowed Time- Concerned that the end of her life is near, Victoria is determined not to die in bed. She is determined to live until the very end.
  • Adventure- Victoria is doing her best to have an exciting adventure before she dies to what is called the "Freeman Curse."
  • Freedom- Victoria had a lonely childhood where she was controlled by well-meaning but neglectful parents who were married to their jobs. She wants to feel the freedom that is taken for granted by others.

   Fears:

  • "Marie"- A special Misdreavus named "Marie" has haunted the Freeman family for decades as an omen of impending calamity. In the past one hundred and fifty years of the family's history, a Misdreavus with red "hair" and a red "bottom" was recorded to have appeared in front of at least twenty individual Freeman family members and wailed at them. They all died violent deaths to war, crime, wild Pokemon attacks, or vehicle accidents a day after the encounter. It appeared in front of her parents shortly before their deaths by airplane crash and it appeared before her shortly before she set out on her Pokemon journey. Victoria is deeply concerned that her time to succumb to the "Freeman Curse" is drawing near.
  • Sharpedo- Victoria had an unpleasant encounter with a Sharpedo in Olivine City while swimming in the water. It brushed against her legs and left her with nasty scrapes. The resulting bleeding drew a small swarm of them that she barely escaped thanks to a Lifeguard's timely aid. After that close call, Victoria was left with a fear of the aquatic Pokemon.
  • Ghost Pokemon- While not as feared as "Marie", Victoria is still wary of Ghost Pokemon as a whole. Their ability to phase through solid objects creeps her out to no end.

History: Victoria Freeman was born to Samantha and Harold Freeman in Olivine City, where she lived until she was six years old. Her scientist parents accepted job offers at Silph Co. and the Freemans moved to Saffron City. She lived the life of a middle-class youth and went to good schools, but her parents were never really there for her. They were too busy burning the midnight oil at Silph Co. working feverishly to make the next big product for Pokemon Trainers. In their place, her older sister Veronica served as a parental figure.

Veronica was a Pokemon Breeder who lived and worked in Celadon City. She occasionally helped at Celadon Gym and was on good terms with the Celadon Gym Leader; for her fourteenth birthday Veronica even took her to Celadon Gym and wrangled her a chance to speak with Erika in private. After the conversation, Victoria decided to become a Pokemon Trainer. She did not want to be a scientist stuck in a lab all day. She wanted to travel and see the world.

Victoria's parents did not take very kindly to her decision. They furiously forbade such a thing until after she finished school and forbade her to see what few friends she had managed to make. Instead they forced her to study technology so that she would be certain to follow in their footsteps. Victoria saw the futility of arguing and acquiesced, but in secret she kept her dream alive. She occasionally slipped out and watched Pokemon battles on restaurant televisions, but her parents eventually caught on and hired a female trainer with a Kadabra to keep watch over her and prevent her from leaving home without their knowledge... any transgression was instantly reported to her parents by the Psychic Pokemon, beginning Victoria's intense dislike of Psychics.

This continued until she was seventeen, when she graduated school in the top ten of her class. However, her parents still did not want her to become a trainer. They thought that it was a foolish pursuit and pushed employment at Silph Co. even harder, assuring her that she stood a good chance of getting hired and building a future. Veronica stepped in and tried to intercede on her younger sister's behalf, but Samantha and Harold refused to budge; as it turned out, Veronica had been forced into a similar predicament and had opted to break with her family and follow her own path. Victoria now faced the same conundrum as Veronica.

After weeks of arguing with her parents, Victoria was too afraid to break ties with them and elected to look at working at Silph Co. Veronica understood and held no ill will... on Victoria's eighteenth birthday she gave the latter a Vulpix that had hatched from an egg and its Trainer did not want it because it was not a Shiny. After another strenuous round of arguing with her parents, Victoria was allowed to keep the Vulpix. Happy with that small victory and certain that she would not win any further concessions, Victoria settled down into a life with prospects of lab drudgery.

However, tragedy was soon to follow. A few weeks later a frightened Veronica called Victoria and reported that "Marie" had appeared before her and wailed. Only a day later Veronica was found dead in a back alley in Celadon City; she had been mauled to death by a pack of wild Houndoom. Veronica's left arm had been chewed off at the elbow, her throat had been torn out, and her face was chewed almost beyond recognition. Victoria reported Veronica's death to her parents, who callously dismissed the death of their prodigal daughter as mere bad luck and not as a result of the "Freeman Curse."

An incensed Victoria stormed into Silph Co. and confronted her parents in person, refusing to leave until they explained what the "Freeman Curse" was. Harold grudgingly explained that "Marie" was a Misdreavus with red "hair" and a red "bottom" that had appeared before Freemans who later died violent deaths. "Marie" had been stalking the family for 150 years and there was no rhyme or reason behind her appearances. What was for certain was that any Freeman who saw her died violently a day later.

A shaken Victoria left Silph Co. and returned home. Victoria immediately went to cradle her Pokemon tried to move on from Veronica's death. It was hard, but Victoria managed with the help of Vulpix. Having the small fire fox helped her get past the worst of the loneliness and the frigid callousness of her parents.

Life slowly went back to normal until a month later, when her mother called and reported that "Marie" had appeared before them and wailed in their faces. Harold brushed it off, but Samantha was deeply afraid. They had a business trip to Hoenn the next day and Samantha was concerned that she might die. Victoria listened as her mother explained more about the "Freeman Curse" and told her to go to the family estate in Olivine City to get the full story. Harold then ended the conversation and insisted that the curse was mere hysterical superstition before curtly hanging up... that was the last time Victoria ever heard from her parents.

The next day their airplane suffered engine trouble and went down over Johto, crashing into the ocean at Olivine City. Search-and-rescue teams found no survivors. Their bodies were recovered and they were buried in Olivine Cemetery. Victoria was now the last survivor of the Freeman family.

Victoria inherited her parent's money and the family mansion in Olivine City, which had been unused for years ever since they moved to Saffron City. It was an unexpected inheritance and one she did not necessarily want. However, since it fell to her by default, Victoria would claim it. She immediately traveled to Johto and claimed the mansion. Recalling her mother's final words, she pored over the family archives and learned that Veronica, Samantha, and Harold Freeman were not the only victims of "Marie."

She learned that no less than twenty Freemans had died after meeting the Misdreavus and hearing its wail. Victoria ceased research and left the mansion, returning to Saffron City to settle family affairs. Once they were concluded, she decided to go on a Pokemon journey to get away from it all. The night before her journey was to start, it happened. "Marie" appeared to a drowsy Victoria and wailed, then disappeared with a sinister smile that lingered in the air for a full minute after the Pokemon vanished.

A disturbed Victoria did not get any sleep that night. Every time she closed her eyes, all she saw was "Marie" and that knowing smile. Was it Victoria's turn to die? Part of Victoria was afraid to find out, but she was going on her Pokemon journey anyway. She was going to have a big adventure before her time came.
